Sulu — A buy-bust operation was launched by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) BARMM in Poblacion, Maimbung, Sulu, on Sunday, February 4, 2024.
PDEA BARMM arrested a certain Alex in the operation while another individual, identified as Aldun, was injured and later expired at the hospital.
PDEA BARMM disclosed that during the consummation of the transaction, Aldun snatched the firearm of one of the members of the operating team. As the arresting officer resisted the attempt of the suspect, gunfire was heard. It was found out the suspect was injured and was immediately brought to the nearest hospital.
However, PDEA said that Aldun was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
PDEA BARMM recovered from the operation approximately 500 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of Php 3,400,000.00
The suspected shabu was placed in thirteen (13) heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets. Also recovered were buy-bust money, two (2) mobile phones, and identification cards.
The arrested individual is currently detained at the Indanan Municipal Police Station, awaiting the inquest proceedings for Republic Act No. 9165 violations, also known as the "Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002."
PDEA BARMM was assisted by operatives from Sulu Police Provincial Office Provincial Intelligence Unit, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency BARMM, Maimbung Municipal Police Station, Regional Intelligence Unit IX, 41st Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, 54th Special Action Company, 5th Special Action Battalion, and Regional Mobile Force Battalion 14-B Sulu in the successful operation.
