Bangsamoro Parliament's Ethics and Privileges Committee Pushes for Code of Ethics

Cotabato City — The Bangsamoro Parliament's Ethics and Privileges Committee convened in a roundtable discussion in Manila on Tuesday, February 13 and tackled the proposed Code of Ethics.



House of Representatives Committee on Ethics Vice-Chair Raul Angelo Bongalon, joined the committee, who provided insights on ethical proceedings in both Parliament and the lower house of Congress.



BTA Deputy Speaker and Committee Chair Atty. Omar Yasser Sema emphasized that the code of ethics of the parliament will serve as a foundation to protect the institution and its members.



The proposed legislation covers not only the guidelines for their parliamentary duties and obligations, but also the implementation of dress code guidelines for Members of Parliament, staff, resource persons, and guests during sessions, public consultations, committee meetings, and hearings.


The committee is set to file the proposed measure by May or June this year.


The activity was conducted in collaboration with the Support to Bangsamoro Transition SUBATRA.
