Cotabato City - Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the shooting incident that resulted in the death of an employee from the office of Bangsamoro Transition Authority Parliament Member Romeo Sema. The incident transpired past 6 p.m. on Tuesday in front of City Mall in Cotabato City.

According to Cotabato City Police Director, Police Colonel Querubin Manalang Jr., the victim, Sulaiman Kusain Macabangon, 50 years old, was about to get into his car with plate number GAT 2575 when an unidentified perpetrator shot him.

"Investigators have visited the family, but they have not yet returned. Usually, it takes 1-2 days before the victim's family speaks up, but we will not stop the investigation," said PCol Manalang.

Five bullets from a still unidentified gun were recovered by authorities at the crime scene.

The suspects' identities are still unknown, but authorities are now obtaining a copy of the CCTV footage from the mall management.

"Our personnel also visited the mall management to obtain CCTV footage in order to identify the suspects and ascertain if there was only one perpetrator or more," added PCol Manalang.

The crime happened in a crowded area near the Bangsamoro Government Center.

Cotabato City Police Director Manalang, however, said, "we suspect that the perpetrators followed the victim because he's not a resident of Cotabato City."
