Philippine Army Prioritizes Family Welfare and Gender Equality, Vows Action Against Abuse

In a recent statement, Philippine Army Spokesperson Colonel Louie Dema-ala emphasized the Army's zero-tolerance policy towards abuse within the ranks, particularly towards soldiers' spouses and families. Dema-ala highlighted the serious implementation of the Gender-Based Violence Referral System within the Philippine Army, as reported by Radyo Pilipinas.

Dema-ala said Philippine Army Chief Lieutenant General Roy Galido places high value on the sanctity of the family, recognizing its significant impact on a soldier's professional growth and personal outlook. This commitment to family welfare aligns with the Army's stance against any form of abuse within their ranks.

These statements come amidst the delay in the promotion of Brigadier General Ranulfo Sevilla following an appeal filed by his spouse with the Commission on Appointments.

The appeal alleges abuse and failure to provide adequate support for the family, prompting the Army to reaffirm its stance against such behavior.
