Manila —The Philippine National Police (PNP) is now advocating the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to suppress and resolve crimes across the country.
PNP Chief, Police General Rommel Francisco Marbil, cited the effective utilization of Artificial Intelligence in the U.S., where authorities can easily trace criminals for specific crimes. He highlighted the potential benefits of incorporating AI technology into crime-fighting strategies.
According to a report from Radyo Pilipinas, General Marbil emphasized that the adoption of Artificial Intelligence is aligned with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive for the government to keep pace with modern technology advancements.
General Marbil clarified that the integration of AI technology will not overshadow the role of police officers but rather enhance their performance in fulfilling their duties.
Marbil emphasized that this initiative is part of their SMART Policing strategy and assured funding allocation to implement this technological advancement successfully.
