Marawi City — The families of the four individuals who tragically lost their lives in the MSU Marawi City bombing on December 3, 2023, have received financial assistance from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), together with the Bangsamoro Government and the provincial government of Lanao del Sur.

The same Financial Assistance was also given to seven individuals who sustained severe injuries in the incident.

The cash distribution took place on January 29 at the MSU-Main Campus, which OPAPRU said demonstrates the strong collaboration between the national government, local government units (LGUs), and MSU-Marawi in the face of the challenges posed by violent extremism.

Meanwhile, OPAPRU Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. assured the victims that the Marcos administration would do everything in its power to provide justice and help them heal and recover.

Secretary Galvez mentioned that their agency will implement the Prevention and Transformation program for Violent Extremists in Lanao del Sur. This peacebuilding initiative will involve various national line agencies, the BARMM government, local government units, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders.

The distribution of cash assistance was also attended by Joel Mamon, the regional director of the Office of Civil Defense in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Eric Balcos, Assistant Vice President of PAGCOR, and David Diciano, Presidential Assistant of OPAPRU.
