Cotabato City — A 22-year-old student was apprehended in a buy-bust operation at around 3 p.m. on February 2, 2024, in front of Cotabato State University along Sinsuat Avenue, Barangay Rosary Heights 13.

The student, known by the alias "Sam," is a resident of Margues, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.
The police, disguised as a poseur buyer, successfully acquired nine heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu worth 1,200 pesos from the student.
Upon searching the student's possession, two hundred peso bills and five pieces of photo-copied 500 peso bills, used as marked money, were recovered. Authorities also seized a heat-sealed plastic sachet, weighing approximately 0.5 grams, containing suspected shabu.
The student will undergo a medical and physical examination and a drug test. Meanwhile, he will be detained at Police Station 3. Authorities will transfer the confiscated evidence to the Regional Forensic Unit for a qualitative and quantitative examination and proper custody.
Preparations are underway to file charges under Republic Act 9165 against the arrested student.
The successful operation was conducted by elements of Police Station 3, in collaboration with elements from Police Station 2, Cotabato City Police Office Intelligence Unit, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency - Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA BARMM).
