PNP Reports Decrease in Gun-Related Incidents, Remains Optimistic for the Future

Manila — In a press briefing at Camp Crame, as reported by Radyo Pilipinas, Police Colonel Jean Fajardo, the PNP Public Information Office Chief, disclosed a decrease in gun-related crimes over the past two years.


According to Fajardo, the PNP recorded 4,956 gun-related incidents last year, a decline from the 5,172 incidents reported in 2022.


Within the last two years, Fajardo mentioned that out of the logged gun-related incidents, 3,792 cases were filed in court, 3,774 were referred to the prosecutor’s office, and 1,136 are under investigation.


For the year 2024, the PNP has documented 808 incidents, with cases of shooting incidents, alarm and scandal, grave threats, and robbery taking the lead.


The Philippine National Police expresses confidence in the continued decrease of gun violence in the country.
