Residents from Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, and Sultan Kudarat Hand Over 50 High-Powered Firearms to the Philippine Army

Maguindanao del Sur, BARMM —Residents from Upi, Maguindanao del Norte, South Upi, Maguindanao del Sur, and Lebak, Sultan Kudarat voluntarily surrendered high-caliber firearms to the 57th Infantry Battalion.



The surrendered weapons included a 7.62mm SLR Rifle, two (2) 7.62mm M14 Rifles, two (2) Cal.30 Carbine Rifles, a Cal.30 BAR Rifle, a 40mm M79, an RPG, two (2) Cal.45 Pistols, two 5.56mm Fortilite Pistols, an Ingram-type 9mm, three (3) Uzi-type 9mm Pistols, a Cal .38 Revolver, 22 20-Gauge Shotguns, 15 12-Gauge Shotguns, magazines, and various types of ammunition.



57th Infantry Battalion Commander, Lt. Col. Guillermo Mabute Jr., stated that these firearms were surrendered from February to April 19, 2024.



The weapons were presented during the Grand Barangay Assembly held at the Gymnasium in South Upi, Maguindanao del Sur, attended by Brig. Gen. Michael Santos of the 603rd Brigade, Upi Mayor Ma. Rona Christina Flores, South Upi Mayor Reynalbert O Insular, and Lebak Mayor Frederick Celestial.
