SULTAN SA BARONGIS, MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR — Two feuding clans—led by Theng Mamo and Mutawali Simpla—have formally ended their long-standing rido (clan conflict) during a peace settlement held at the headquarters of the 33rd Infantry Battalion.

The settlement was the result of collaborative efforts led by Maguindanao del Sur Governor Datu Ali Midtimbang, in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine National Police (PNP), the local government of Sultan Sa Barongis, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front-Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (MILF-CCCH), and the Peace, Security and Reconciliation Office of the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM-BARMM).
According to the Peace, Security and Reconciliation Office, recent clashes between the two groups reignited tensions in the area, causing several residents to flee their homes out of fear.
Sultan Sa Barongis Mayor Al-Jofner Angas Sr., Maguindanao del Sur Board Member Yasser Ampatuan, and high-ranking officials from the Philippine Army were present during the peace accord, demonstrating strong support from both civilian and military sectors for long-term peace in the municipality.
The event marks another step toward sustainable peace and conflict resolution in the Bangsamoro region, which has long been affected by inter-clan disputes.
