Westminster Foundation for Democracy Organizes Female Fellowship for Bangsamoro Women Leaders for Political Engagement and Rights Advocacy

Davao City — Eleven successful women from various provinces in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region participated in the Female Fellowship for Bangsamoro organized by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD).



The fellowship aims to establish a network for women, encourage political participation, provide leadership skills and effective campaign management in elections, offer a safe space free from discrimination, and address violations of women's rights in politics.



Among the participants were Members of the Bangsamoro Parliament Tarhata Maglangit and NurRhedha Misuari, Ministry of Social Services and Development Deputy Minister Nur-Ainee Lim, former 1st District of Maguindanao Representative, 𝗕𝗮𝗶 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗮; former Tawi-Tawi representative, 𝗥𝘂𝗯𝘆 𝗦𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗶; former member of the defunct ARMM Regional Legislative Assembly, 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗿𝗮 𝗚𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗰; former Cotabato City Councilor, 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗮; former Cotabato Province Board Member, 𝗗𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗻; CSO leader, Prof. 𝗔𝗿𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮; retired assistant schools division superintendent 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘆𝗮 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻; and Atty. 𝗕𝗮𝗶 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻 "𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗮" 𝗗𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻.


Led by Member of the Kenyan Parliament Millie Grace Akoth Odhiambo and Member of the UK Parliament Elizabeth Katherine Saville Roberts, this fellowship is the first in a series of retreats planned for 2024 as the Bangsamoro Government gears up for the 2025 Elections.


The WFD is a UK public body dedicated to strengthening democracy worldwide and supports democratic resilience in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.


The UK Government backs the activities in Bangsamoro through the Conflict, Stability, and Security Fund (CSSF) project.
